Eat as much cabbage soup diet as you desire for seven days and you can lose 10 to 15 pounds. The recipe varies slightly, but includes a variety of low-calorie vegetables such as cabbage, or onions, and tomatoes, flavored with bouillon, onion soup mix, and tomato juice. Each day of the seven-day program has specific foods that must be eaten, including potatoes, fruit juice, many vegetables, and on one day, beef.
Day One:

* Eat only fruit, all the fruit you want except banana.
* Drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice, and water.
* Eat as much cabbage soup diet as you like.

Day Two:

All you want - fresh, raw, or cooked vegetables of your choice. Stay away from dry beans, peas, and sweet corn. Reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter for dinner. Eat as much cabbage soup diet as you like but no fruit for today.
Day Three:

Combine days one and two, eat as much fruit, vegetables, and cabbage soup diet, as you like but no baked potato.
Day Four:

Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your cabbage soup diet. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.
Day Five:

You may have 10-20 ounces of beef (300-500g) and a large tin or up to six fresh tomatoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your cabbage soup diet at least once today. You may eat broiled or baked chicken (skinless) instead of beef. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef.
Day Six:

Eat beef and vegetables today. You can even have two or three steaks if you like, with fresh vegetables or salad. NO BAKED POTATO. Eat your cabbage soup diet at least once.
Day Seven:

Eat all you want of brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices, and vegetables. Be sure to eat your cabbage soup diet at least once to day. No bread, alcohol, or carbonated beverages, not even diet soda.

In a short span of time, double-digit losses are possible. Some people, maybe because they became discouraged and unmotivated by the slower results of other diets, swear by the quick cabbage soup diet. After all, participants cut their caloric intake by at least 50 percent, taking in roughly 800 to 1,000 calories a day . The diet isn't by any means appropriate for a lifestyle, but it does help incorporate vegetable and fruits into an individual's meal plans.

Of course, the cabbage soup diet has its disavantages as follow :
First, it's a bit bland and boring, which makes cravings tough to ignore.
It also cuts out a good amount of nutrients along with those calories. The extremely restrictive nature of the diet makes entire food groups off-limits on certain days. And while it does produce quick weight loss, much of this is water loss, not the more beneficial loss of fat. Unlike many diet plans, which usually require lots of exercise and expect a long-term commitment to achieve results, the cabbage soup diet is short. Designed to last one week, it isn't intended to be a lifestyle change. It isn't high enough in nutrients or calories to sustain healthy body functions for longer than the designated timeframe. After completing the week, you should spend some time back on a normal diet before contemplating a return to the cabbage soup regimen.

No one person or institute claims credit for creating the cabbage soup diet, so there's no specific standard for dieters to follow. Through the years, multiple variations of the diet have surfaced. Although they differ a bit from one another, they're all quite similar.

For each of the seven days, you should eat at least two bowls of cabbage soup. And there are specific foods that you can eat almost without limit each day, though you're encouraged to try to quiet your hunger by eating the low-calorie soup whenever possible. Foods like bread, alcohol and soda are forbidden, although you drink as much water as you like. Here's the basic schedule:

* Day One: you can eat all the soup you want, as well as any fruit (except bananas).
* Day Two: soup, low-calorie vegetables and one baked potato with butter
* Day Three: soup, fruits and vegetables
* Day Four: soup, six to eight bananas and all-you-can-drink skim milk
* Day Five: soup, six tomatoes and 15 to 20 ounces of beef, fish or chicken. Make sure to take in at least six glasses on water this day -- if not more.
* Day Six: soup, beef and vegetables

Cabbage Soup Diet Ingredients:

* 6 large green onions (1 bunch)
* 2 green bell peppers
* 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (14.5 ounce size, diced or whole)
* 1 bunch celery, sliced
* 1/2 head cabbage, chopped
* 1 package (Lipton) onion soup mix
* 1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
* 1 48 oz can V8 juice, or 6 cups water or light chicken or vegetable broth
* Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, etc.*

Cabbage Soup Diet Instructions:
Simmer or slow cook all until soup is done. *If slow cooking, add seasonings about an hour before done. Eat all the soup you want, whenever you want. ..enjoy the cabbage soup diet recipe !

  • 4 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 c. sauerkraut, shredded
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 bouillon cubes
  • 1 med. cabbage, chopped

  • 1 tbsp. dehydrated onion flakes
  • Salt & pepper to taste

If you're fed up with cabbage soup diet then try 3 other different soups as follow :
1) Ratatouille Soup
Tin tomatoes, courgettes, peppers, aubergine (eggplant), onions and lots of garlic!

2) Spring Vegetable
Leeks, spinach, watercress, celery, broccoli, onions bouillon

3) Winter vegetable
Onions, leeks, carrots, Savoy cabbage, Swede, parsnip (small amount), vegetable stock

The basic principle for each is to fry the onions/garlic/leeks gently (fry-light of course!) then add the "hard" vegetables and stock/tomatoes/bouillon, then the soft veggies! Salt and pepper to taste. Fresh Basil is a good addition to the first one - or chillis if you like it hot...fry them with the onions.

Cabbage Soup Diet INGREDIENTS
  • 2 or 3 large cans of Crushed or Pureed Tomatoes,
  • Add water for soupier consistency.
  • 1 bunch of regular Scallions or 3 large bulbs
  • 1/2 head of Cabbage
  • 1 bunch of Celery
  • 4 Carrots
  • 2 large green/red or yellow Peppers
  • 1 bunch of Italian Parsley (not curly)
  • 1 bunch of Basil or Cilantro
  • 3 large Bay Leaves whole
  • 1 head of Garlic (15-20 cloves?), finely chopped
  • 1 package of Lipton Onion Soup mix
  • 4 chicken or beef Bouillon Cubes
  • Black Pepper, Rosemary, Tarragon, Red Crushed Pepper, added to suit your taste.
Cabbage Soup Diet INSTRUCTIONS
Pour the large cans of Crushed Tomatoes into a big soup pot. Fill a tomato can with water and add it also. Add cleaned and chopped Scallions (green and white parts), Cabbage, Celery, Carrots, Peppers and start to cook on medium to low flame. Clean, chop and add Parsley followed by the Basil or Cilantro.
Add 3 large whole Bay Leaves to the soup mixture. Never include the Bay Leaves in any serving of the soup, they get thrown out when you're finished with the pot of soup.

Add the garlic, the onion soup mix, and the chicken or beef bouillon cube.
Keep stirring! Stir the soup regularly and adjust the flame so it slowly boils or simmers. The cabbage soup should be cooked for about 1 1/2 hours.
Add Black Pepper, Tarragon and Rosemary to suit your taste and Crushed Red Pepper if you like.

Taste the cabbage soup as you cook it, adjust cooking time to suit your taste. Add more water if you like or the 3rd can of tomatoes. The cabbage soup may be eaten hot or cold. The cabbage soup diet is ready....Enjoy !
